About Me

I teach speaking and listening practice, including practice for the IELTS test.  I also teach reading and speaking lessons based on current affairs. I graduated in Economics and Computing Science and worked as a computer programmer for 15 years.  I then moved into social care and currently work in a hospital for people with mental health problems.  My role is to ensure that they are fully involved in decisions about their treatment and care and to ensure they know their rights and can exercise them. Every day I communicate both person to person and on the telephone, by letter and email.  Sometimes I am negotiating with doctors and nurses; other times explaining things to patients.  This job needs listening skills and considerable patience so it was
an ideal training ground for teaching. In my lessons I generally allow my students to speak, correcting after they have finished speaking and making notes in the chat on Skype so they can review them later. I really enjoy teaching English and my students really enjoy their lessons.  I hope you will take a trial lesson with me and maybe become a regular student.
